Birth House of Anton Martin Slomšek

The beatified Anton Martin Slomšek was born in 1800 in the village of Uniše near Ponikva.  His birth house was restored and is open to visitors throughout the year.

The house contains an exhibition which follows the life of the esteemed priest, tutor and national rouser, from his early childhood up to the point when he decided to become a priest, followed by episcopacy and all the way to beatification in 1999. There is a special room called the, ‘sainthood room’, that was painted by the painter Ivo Kisovec. On the upper floor is a hall where you can view a film about Slomšek.
