An Upside-Down Pyramid

The Kozjansko region is rich in megaliths, and the area of Planina pri Sevnici hides several megalithic structures believed to have been built by prehistoric indigenous peoples, who lived in close harmony with nature.

The Ampus Megalith is unique—no other like it has been found so far. It is an upside-down rock, estimated to weigh over one hundred tons, shaped like a pyramid. This pyramid-shaped stone stands on only three edges, with a cut-off tip and a small space underneath that, according to megalith researchers, serves as an energy amplifier.

A Landscape Triad

The Ampus Megalith, the Church of St. Margaret, and Planina Castle together form a landscape triad. According to megalith researchers, the point at the castle emits celestial-downward, fiery or masculine energy; the point at the Church of St. Margaret of Antioch emits Earth-upward, watery or feminine energy. The Ampus Megalith alternately emits both types of energy and balances the interaction of these primal forces.
